Blog: Next New

I think it's safe to say that with technology advancing in all sorts of ways, conjuring up an idea that identifies the next step in "new" media can prove difficult. After all, virtual reality is on the way, and the limitations that come with it such as face-to-face recognition will soon be removed with face analysis, where one can actually scan their face and have it project on the VR system for others to see. Holograms are still a work-in-progress, but are definitely there. Soon people will be able to project anything via contact lens, so where media can go from here, I'm not sure. But I'm hoping to see some development in holograms. Interactivity could take place with projections on the daily, so one could receive their news projected to them every morning, in addition to whatever updates they wish to receive. Almost like having a digital assistant, better than Siri or Google giving you the weather report for the day. It could be like Jarvis from Iron Man, who basically did most of his tasks. This could be the newest form of media because it involves seamless action, which is the premise for most new medias. Convenience would be the epitome of media projection, having text messages read to you along with YouTube videos played back with almost 360 viewing. It would be like watching from where these videos are filmed, along with real sound and accurate coloring. We'd be rendering phones and computers almost useless, and could be a development in VR technology just without the headset. We'd be increasing what it's like to have everything available to us without limitations, in an instant.
